I read about Sheldon Dingwalls' Basses in the Bass Player buyer guide while seeking my "Bass of a life time". That same month I saw one played and ordered one.I was impressed by the concept of scaling each strung to an optimum legnth using the Novax Fanned-Fret system. This concept is copied from the piano tuning where the lower strings are longer than the higher stings.Scale is B/37",E3/6.25",A/35.5", D/34.75", G/34". The Bass is second to none in construction and intonation is perfect all the way up the fret board. The test to playing the fanned fret neck is to play with out looking at the neck and surprise! it isnt much different than a standard fretted neck. Bartolini custom designed active pickups, Kahler design bridge, Sperzal string lock tuners, Neutrik locking jack, round out the perfect bass. The sound of this bass is lively and even accross the strings, piano like and a zing on the top end, the low B needs now lighter touch like other low B's
