A few years ago I bought this bass direct from BSX and have been playing it regularly ever since.  It has satin finish and a piezo bridge.  Although it is somethat difficult to play, I think it is partly because of the fifth string.  However, the bass does sound awesome, and a range of interesting tones can be coaxed from this instrument
