I was delighted with this bass from the moment I bought it. The build quality is superb (built under license in Czechoslovakia)with a buzz free neck no matter how low you set the action. I used the Helicore hybrid strings that came with the bass for some time and then changed to Thomastik light gauge 3/4 double bass strings which have improved the sound. The instrument can sound very much like an amplified double bass or more like a fretless bass guitar depending on the settings used and the acoustics of the room. I have yet to receive an unfavourable comment about the sound from other musicians.
I was using a GK150MB amp originally with this bass until I had the good fortune to discover the Phil Jones Flightcase which in my view blows away any small bass combos I have tried. You have to hear it to believe it!
All in all for sound, build, stylish good looks, and transportability you would have to go a long way to find a better bass than the Ned Steinberger CR4 electric upright
